Gothenburg´s West Link (Västlänken) is an 8km long double track railway line, including a 6km train tunnel with three stations underground.  The commuter and regional trains get their own tracks in a tunnel, the capacity at Gothenburg Central Station will be doubled, and travel through the city becomes easier and faster.

The contract E05 Korsvägen covers a length of approximately 3.2km and extends from Landala, via Korsvägen and Örgryte/Jakobsdal to Almedal’s existing tracks. The route consists of 620 metres concrete tunnels, 2,250 metres rock tunnels and 380 metres concrete troughs. The rock tunnel sections consist of track tunnels with parallel service & rescue tunnels. Three sections of the tunnel are carried out with concrete structures in clay and soil.

COWI is the main consultant for the design and construction works. This includes concrete tunnels, rock tunnels, concrete trough structures, pumping stations, support structures, mechanical, electrical and plumbing installations, relocation of roads, trams and infrastructure, bridge design, a station building and architectural design for the station and three new buildings in Liseberg amusement park.

The West Link is expected to open for traffic in 2026.
