Henån’s new seafront promenade offers both protection and a new and welcoming environment

Infrastructure Solutions

The seafront promenade at Henån is to have new flood barriers installed to preserve and develop the area between the town and the sea. The primary objective of the project is to protect the centre of Henån from flooding without blocking access to the boats in the harbour. It also aims to create an attractive waterside area that contributes to improving contact between the town and the sea. Along with its core function as a marina for visitors, the area forms an important link to the centre of Henån.

To prevent the flood protection from being seen as a major barrier separating the land and people from the sea, the flood protection will be incorporated into a promenade. This will feature places to sit, welcoming lighting to create a feeling of safety as well as greenery. The approach to the quay and accessibility features were also an important part of the development process.
