Surge wall to reduce future hurricane flood risk

The IHNC project is the largest civil works design-build project ever performed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and signifies the USACE’s commitment to the people of New Orleans to reduce future hurricane flood risk.

The monumental project includes an approximately 2-mile-long batter pile surge wall and three gate structures.

COWI was the lead Designer-of-Record for this design-build project. This included solutions that reduced construction costs without compromising structural performance.
