In July 2014, the EU adopted a framework directive on maritime spatial planning. The aim is to create the conditions for both the use and preservation of marine areas while also creating opportunities for balancing interests for sustainable future development.
COWI was engaged to expand on the environmental impact assessments and sustainability analyses produced earlier for maritime spatial planning.
The sustainability analyses take a comprehensive view of the proposed plans by examining both economic and ecological and social aspects.
