Office/Home Hybrid Working

Do you want to be a part of a growing Infrastructure Design team? Can you turn complex hydraulic and highway design challenges into clear, buildable solutions? Are you skilled in Civil 3D and drainage modelling software, and eager to use those abilities on some of the UK’s most exciting infrastructure projects? If the answer is yes, read on. This could be the next adventure in your career.

We recognise that great infrastructure engineers come from a variety of backgrounds. We're looking for engineers who have deep expertise in a core infrastructure discipline, but who are equally comfortable collaborating across disciplines to develop integrated solutions for complex infrastructure projects. In return, you'll have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of projects, from bridge and highway improvement works, access infrastructure and development-related schemes through to major transport and energy programmes, providing exposure to challenges across the full spectrum of infrastructure delivery. You'll receive structured support towards Chartership and other professional qualifications, enjoy flexible hybrid working from one of our UK offices, and be rewarded with a competitive salary aligned to your skills and experience.

If you enjoy leading technical delivery, mentoring others and working within multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

We are growing our Infrastructure Design team and are seeking a Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working across sectors including highways, rail, water, energy and development infrastructure, you will provide technical leadership within your discipline whilst coordinating effectively with specialists from other disciplines to deliver integrated, sustainable and buildable solutions.

You will take ownership of technical deliverables, support the development of client relationships, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of infrastructure design packages across highways, rail, drainage, utilities, power distribution and related disciplines, providing technical leadership from concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Act as a technical lead within your discipline while ensuring effective integration with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and review calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and design reports, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design interfaces, identifying risks, opportunities and constraints to support successful project outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, local authorities, contractors, statutory undertakers and other stakeholders, acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout project delivery.
  • Support project managers in managing programme, resource and commercial objectives.
  • Undertake site visits and provide construction-phase support where required.
  • Apply relevant standards, regulations and CDM requirements, including undertaking and reviewing design risk assessments.
  • Mentor, support and develop junior engineers and technicians through technical guidance, coaching and review of their work.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of technical standards, digital delivery and engineering best practice across the team.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners, or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you’ll:

  • Have a degree in civil engineering (or equivalent)
  • Be a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or able to demonstrate significant progress towards professional qualification.
  • Have a strong technical background in at least one infrastructure discipline, such as highways, drainage, utilities, development infrastructure or power distribution, together with an understanding of how these disciplines interact within multidisciplinary projects.
  • Be comfortable coordinating designs across multiple disciplines, identifying interfaces, risks and opportunities to achieve integrated project outcomes.
  • Have experience using industry-standard infrastructure design and modelling software such as Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage or equivalent tools.
  • Have experience delivering infrastructure projects in the UK across one or more sectors including highways, rail, water, energy, utilities or development infrastructure
  • Be familiar with relevant industry standards, and have a sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designer’s requirements and requirements regarding the design risk assessment process
  • Have experience leading the delivery of your discipline within multidisciplinary project teams and working collaboratively with technicians and other specialists to produce coordinated design solutions.
  • Understand the importance of programme, budget and commercial objectives and contribute to achieving successful project outcomes.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising engineers and technicians
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Hold a full UK driving license
