Do you have the technical expertise and leadership experience to lead electrical design delivery on large-scale data centre projects?

As Electrical Lead at COWI, you will take a central technical role in some of our largest and most complex data centre projects. You will lead electrical design teams, act as a key technical interface with clients and partners, and have the opportunity to shape how COWI develops and delivers electrical design for data centres across the Nordics and internationally.

Grow COWI’s international data centre business
Data centres are a strategic growth area at COWI, and we are continuing to strengthen our capabilities and position in this market. As Electrical Lead, you will combine technical leadership on major projects with significant influence on how we approach electrical design and develop consistent ways of working across our data centre business.

You will work closely with clients, Senior Project Managers, Project Directors, Design Managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams across different project stages. You will work in an English-speaking environment alongside colleagues across the Nordics and the UK.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Act as the technical electrical lead towards clients, partners and other external stakeholders, translating project requirements into appropriate technical solutions
  • Lead electrical design teams on large-scale data centre projects, with overall responsibility for the electrical design delivery.
  • Plan and manage the electrical design process, coordinating resources, activities, interfaces and deliverables across project stages and delivery teams.
  • Lead the technical development of data centre electrical power systems and technical architecture, covering critical power, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, redundancy and resilience, as well as ICC, BMS and ELV systems and their interfaces with other technical disciplines.
  • Ensure technical quality and consistency of the electrical design, providing senior technical direction and supporting key design decisions and complex interfaces.
  • Contribute to the continued development of COWI’s data centre capabilities, helping shape our technical approaches and ways of working across projects and international delivery teams.

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
To succeed in this role, you combine strong electrical engineering competence with the ability to lead people and complex technical deliveries. You are comfortable taking technical responsibility in demanding project environments and representing the electrical discipline towards clients and project partners.

You have the technical breadth and engineering judgement to lead the overall electrical design delivery and guide specialists across the wider electrical scope. You communicate clearly, work effectively across disciplines and bring a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to complex engineering challenges.

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Direct experience from large-scale data centre projects.
  • Proven experience leading or taking significant technical responsibility for electrical design and engineering in complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of data centre electrical design and sufficient technical breadth to lead the wider electrical scope and its key technical interfaces.
  • Experience leading engineers or technical teams, combined with the confidence and communication skills to represent the electrical discipline towards clients and senior project stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work effectively in international project teams.
  • Familiarity with relevant data centre standards and structured delivery frameworks such as EN 50600, TIA-942, RIBA or equivalent is an advantage.

Data centre experience is a requirement for this position.

Some projects may be subject to specific security requirements, and the ability to obtain relevant security clearance may be required.
