The BLOX urban development project turns the Bryghus site into one of the most attractive places in Copenhagen, with its location leading down to the port area on Christians Brygge between Langebro and the Danish Royal Library.

It houses the Danish Architecture Centre, offices, luxury homes and restaurants, and the outdoor areas consist of playgrounds and places where people can enjoy the life of the port and the sunshine – when the Danish weather allows it.

BLOX sets new standards for architecture, sustainability and urban and traffic planning, but this is not without challenges. The site is located in the middle of the old city with protected buildings and is surrounded by the port and a main road carrying over 20,000 vehicles a day.

One of the ambitions is for BLOX to improve the connection between the city and the port. For this, COWI has provided the detailed design for all of the engineering disciplines, as well as contributed with local knowledge and expertise in traffic, environmental issues, fire, noise and vibrations, risk analyses and sustainability.
