A new and sustainable shared A&E unit

The ‘Hospital in Nordmøre og Romsdal’ project (SNR) covers a new shared emergency hospital for Nordmøre og Romsdal located at Hjelset in the municipality of Molde, with an outpatient unit/district medical centre in Kristiansund.

The new hospital will have integrated clinical and psychiatric departments and will provide functions such as outpatient and walk-in clinics, laboratories, diagnostic imaging, surgery, A&E, intensive care and maternity rooms. Approx. 54,000 m² at Hjelset and approx. 5,000 m² in Kristiansund. COWI contributed to the feasibility study with a high-level technical programme and documentation for the outline project and the pre-project, and assisted the client in the conceptual planning phase. The project is being run as a BIM project.

The project also has high environmental ambitions, and aims to deliver a passive building. COWI is responsible for all engineering consultancy matters and is involved in the outline project, pre-project and tendering phases. Construction of the new hospital in Nordmøre og Romsdal (SNR) starts in 2018 and is scheduled for completion in 2021.
