Hydrogeologist

Christian Bryn is a hydrogeologist at COWI and a PhD candidate at NTNU’s Department of Geoscience and Petroleum. His work spans geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, geophysics and area development. He specializes in opportunity-focused planning grounded in local resources, for example by using shallow geothermal energy alongside solar PV, energy storage and smart grid interaction to enable energy-surplus, resilient communities.

He combines mapping of groundwater and aggregates with underground space and geohazards to support smarter land-use decisions and robust infrastructure. He’s driven by how local geology can strengthen local resource security, cut emissions, and deliver practical sustainability.
