The automation nerd
Tandri Tryggvason
Electrical engineer - with a 24/7 can-do attitude for fixing flawed systems.
Working with “always on” control systems such as those in hospitals and data centres might be intimidating to some people, but to electrical engineer, Tandri Tryggvason, it’s both thrilling and incredibly fun.
“The fun part about building management systems is that you create a centralised system that combines the heating system, the ventilation system and the cooling system. Everything is compiled in one place where all data is collected, and then it can be used to manage the building completely,” says Tandri.
He is actually such a big automation and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) nerd, that he once tried to fix a leaking ventilation in a nightclub. Mind you this was at 3 in the morning after partying with fellow engineering students, so we don’t blame Tandri for actually not getting the ventilation fixed!
Luckily, Tandri has no problem fixing HVAC systems today. Watch the video to find out which exciting project he has been working on recently in Iceland.
INGENØRD [enɕəˈnɶɐ̯ˀd]: An honorary title for people who enjoy immersing themselves in professional or personal passions, a trait that can generate a never-ending train of thought or result in constant attempts to discover connections and solve problems – which often leads to heated conversations with other 'ingenørds'. Often, but not necessarily, they have a degree in engineering.
