On 11 May, Anton Petersen passed away at the age of 76 following a short illness. Anton was former Chair of the COWIfonden and leader of COWI's Bridge, Tunnel and Marine activities.

A highly respected engineer and leader, Anton played a defining role in shaping some of the world’s most significant infrastructure projects, including the Great Belt and Øresund links. He was known for his technical excellence, integrity and strong commitment to both people and performance.

Through his unique combination of engineering expertise, business insight and strong values, Anton helped build COWI into the global company it is today. He also served as a mentor to generations of engineers and was a deeply valued colleague.

“Anton Pedersen was the embodiment of COWI's values. As COWIfonden’s chair, he was committed to the company’s well-being and growth, he was never complacent and always wanted COWI to be the best. We have lost a great engineer, and Anton’s family an outstanding family man, but we are eternally grateful that his legacy has been the continued development and achievements of all of us, something for us to celebrate in this sad moment,” says COWIfonden’s Chair, David MacKenzie.

“Joining COWI as an aspiring bridge engineer, I quickly realised how Anton was regarded with reverence by my colleagues for his unique abilities as a gifted engineer, successful project manager and appreciated leader. On behalf of the Executive Leadership Team, I send our heartfelt condolences to Anton's family and recognise the immense influence he has had on shaping the COWI we know today. Anton leaves a lasting professional and personal legacy. Our thoughts are with his family,” says Group CEO Jens Højgaard Christoffersen.
