Meet Jessica Ng

"What I really like about working at COWI is that we strive to be industry leaders in areas such as sustainability and digitalisation."

Jessica Ng, Bridge Engineer

COWI understands that sustainable infrastructure is critical to ensuring a liveable future.

We are actively building our knowledge base and incorporating it into our everyday work to demonstrate the value of it to our customers.

We are also investing in and setting the goal of fully transitioning to delivering all our projects using bridge information modelling (BrIM), as we recognise the efficiencies and value it can bring to customers.

I have worked at COWI as a bridge engineer since 2017 on a variety of bridge projects in North America. We work on almost anything that remotely resembles a bridge, from the design of landmark long-span cable-stayed bridges to rehabilitation and maintenance of suspension bridges to evaluations of WWII-era timber structures.

We do work on bridges that are part of critical road networks and are pieces of infrastructure that I and my friends and family use on a regular basis, so I can see and experience first-hand the impact of the work we do.

COWI has a long history of doing quality work on many local bridges and has maintained excellent working relationships with local customers. Our customers know they can come to us for help on unique or especially challenging problems and that we have both the expertise and background to work with them to develop appropriate solutions.

This means we are often the first ones they call, and it is great to have that level of confidence from our customers.

Join Jessica

From the moment I started at COWI, I could see that I was joining a place where there is an established culture where people trust each other, are good at what they do and want to produce good work.

I know that I can go to any person, from the most junior to the most senior, for assistance and will be happily helped.

We have the Early Careers Network (ECN), which organises events that provide professional development opportunities, promotes networking with colleagues across North America and beyond and organises regular social events.

"We have plenty of opportunities to find common ground outside the office and get to know our colleagues.

This includes activities like weekly hikes up the Grouse Grind, attending Vancouver Whitecaps soccer games and going on backpacking trips in the beautiful BC mountains right in our backyard."
