Sustainability workshop in the planning phase of a port expansion

Sikuki Nuuk Harbour A/S is planning a port expansion with 300 metres of new quay and an associated harbour area. COWI was asked to develop a concept proposal and a construction programme for the project in Nuuk, Greenland. This included a sustainability workshop with Sikuki Nuuk Harbour A/S and Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq, where COWI facilitated exercises and dialogues to conceptualise a sustainability strategy for the port expansion. This included strategies for greater social sustainability in both the design and construction phases, based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standard’s (ESRS) requirements for companies' sustainability reporting (CSRD/ESG). The workshop took place virtually using the MIRO tool.
