Leading consulting group with a 360° approach
COWI today announced the acquisition of Norwegian engineering firm Teknisk Data A/S (TDA), a company that specialises in the offshore wind energy sector and large bridges. The acquisition strengthens COWI’s position as a leading consultant in offshore windmill foundations, floating bridges and maritime projects.
Offshore wind energy is undergoing rapid growth and advancement, both technologically and in terms of market size. The leading specialists are in high demand and TDA is viewed as a frontrunner in the design of offshore windmill foundations and performing advanced hydro dynamic and structural analyses. The addition of TDA expands COWI's competencies and services in a market with great potential - which will benefit customers.
"The acquisition of TDA is a very important strategic milestone for COWI. It is in line with our growth strategy which is focused on transportation, bridges and offshore wind energy. Together, COWI will have a strong and highly competent team and can provide great value and expert knowledge to our customers and projects around the globe," says Thomas Dahlgren, Senior Vice President, COWI.
TDA has successfully transferred their immense knowledge and experience from the offshore sector to high technology floating bridges. COWI and TDA have previously worked together on the large Bjørnafjord bridge, which is expected to be the world's largest floating bridge. All will benefit from their shared knowledge and excellent collaboration.
TDA 14 employees in Oslo are looking forward to becoming part of COWI - a global business with more than 6300 employees that can provide more opportunities to work on international projects that demand outstanding skills, knowledge and competencies.
"We are very happy to welcome COWI as the new owner of TDA. Over the years, we have had a strategic cooperation with COWI, especially within offshore windmill foundation and large bridge design. We are a perfect match in both our cultures and competencies and the partnership is highly valued by our customers. Joining COWI is a natural continuation of our great collaboration. Together we will be a strong unit, providing unique services to our clients and to the market," says Jan Erik Berg, TDA Managing Director.
TDA will legally transfer to COWI on January 4th, 2016 and will over the next year move into COWI’s premises in central Oslo.
TDA was founded in 1978 and is mainly owned by employees. Rooted in the norwegian offshore industry, the company has specialised in advanced high-tech solutions for offshore wind mill foundations and engineering for floating bridges.
