SCA is a leading supplier of incontinence products offering incontinence solutions to the public sector. COWI conducted an intervention study in the Municipality of Copenhagen analysing SCA's business concept.
Intervention study
The Healthcare Department of the Municipality of Copenhagen spends substantial resources on incontinence products and personal care of incontinent, elderly residents in nursing homes.

In four selected nursing homes, SCA provided products, training and user guidance in the summer of 2008. COWI subsequently interviewed residents, healthcare workers and managers about time consumption, costs, staff resources and quality of life.

In January 2009, COWI evaluated the intervention. Again, residents, healthcare workers and managers were asked to assess the impact of SCA's products and advisory services on the quality of life of residents, resource use and employee competence development and motivation.

Research-oriented approach
SCA had ordered an independent, research-based consultant study. COWI's findings helped SCA focus its marketing efforts and improve conditions for incontinent customers.
