COWI develops special solutions and customised solutions based on advanced, widespread technologies. The development process uses recognised best practices such as PRINCE2 and agile development to ensure flexibility and learning in the cooperation with our customers.

Successful development and maintenance of GIS and IT solutions begin and end with solid understanding of the users' needs and wishes and prioritisation of these. In other words, COWI's approach to development activities builds on a partnership with our customer – the keyword being cooperation.

Best practice

This approach aims to secure the flexibility needed to adjust the solution throughout the development process, and to utilise lessons learned during the development activities in the best way possible. To this end, COWI applies recognised best practices such as the agile development method SCRUM, which is used for managing daily programming tasks, often in combination with PRINCE2, which is used for managing projects.

In-depth knowledge of applied technologies

To keep development and maintenance costs of special solutions to a minimum, COWI's strategy is to focus on a limited number of technologies for software development. This allows us to always maintain in-depth knowledge of and experience with the technologies applied, in turn securing a high degree of efficiency in development processes and a fair degree of reuse of standard components from solution to solution.

Flexible project execution

Another element of our strategy is to always carry out system development and maintenance tasks in teams to ensure that knowledge is shared and anchored, allowing us to execute projects with a high level of productivity and a large degree of flexibility.
