Empire Wind, New York, USA
New York has set mandated targets for decarbonising the state’s electricity, calling for 70% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% zero-emission energy by 2040. Today, renewables only account for 27% of energy generated state-wide.

Detailed design including fabrication and installation support for the Empire Wind offshore wind farm.
With an anticipated generation capacity of more than 2 GW of renewable power, the Empire Wind development will utilise 15 MW wind turbines and is expected to play a major role in meeting New York State’s goal of reaching 70% renewable energy by 2030. Over 150 experts have worked on all aspects of the wind turbine foundation design, from the tower interface to the seabed fastening – including steel, geotechnical and electrical design for the project as well as engineering support for fabrication, transportation and installation.

Empire Wind addresses New York’s unique energy challenges by producing power near the city, where demand is greatest and transmission infrastructure is limited. It represents a milestone toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing energy independence on the East Coast setting new standards for offshore wind projects nationwide.
