Drones do the legwork for construction of dams in Zambia

To improve livelihood in the countryside, 100 dams are planned to be built across Zambia. COWI is using drones for measurements of locations – more accurate and at double speed compared with traditional methods.

  • COWI is the appointed consultant and responsible for the design.
  • The project is financed by World Bank and African Development Bank.
  • The project is currently planned to run for three years and includes up to 100 damps in 10 provinces.
  • Each dam is up to 15 meters high and each will store water for local rural communities for irrigation and water supply.
