Screening of renewable energy targets for EU Taxonomy alignment

EU Taxonomy Solutions

The client is a fund manager specialising in global renewable energy investments that support the green transition. The client's objective was to develop a new fund that is fully aligned with the EU Taxonomy's technical screening criteria for the economic activities covered by the fund, which include solar PV, biogas, and offshore and onshore wind farms.

COWI assisted the client in integrating the principles of the EU Taxonomy into the development of the new fund. COWI also screened potential investment subjects to assess the level to which the investments would qualify under the EU Taxonomy. This screening was performed on the basis of existing project documentation, e.g., environmental impact assessments (EIAs), environment and social impact assessments (ESIAs) and corporate presentations. The results were then presented together with actions needed to close any gaps identified.
