PROTECTING A NEW PORT FROM 9M WAVES

Ports and marine structures Solutions

The greenfield Vizhinjam international deep water multipupose seaport is being developed in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala and is expected to support India's economic growth upon opening. The location provides beneficial links to national and regional road and rail networks, a close proximity to international shipping routes, and opportunities for expansion.

COWI carried out the detailed design of the 3.1 km long rubble mound breakwater, which was designed to tackle waves as high as 9 m and protect the port's infrastructure.
