sustainable provision of solid waste management

The uMgungundlovu District Municipality in South Africa produces 220,000 tonnes of waste each year, and a lot of it is dumped out in the open. In some of the more rural councils, only 5-10 per cent of waste is collected and treated.

COWI supports the local authorities in developing a sustainable provision of solid waste management services and to support the implementation of systems and facilities.
