In connection with the upcoming EU requirement for corporate sustainability reporting (CSRD), the Danish Business Authority selected COWI to map the financial consequences of the regulation for the approximately 2,300 Danish companies that are covered by the regulation. The project mapped the impact on the indirectly affected SMEs, which were expected to provide sustainability information to other companies in their value chain. In the context of the CSRD, the scope of reporting under Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation was also included, and the consequences of this were incorporated in the study as well.

In the analysis of the administrative consequences, we used interdisciplinary competencies in qualitative methodology (interviews and questionnaire survey) and quantitative methods (socio-economic analysis and calculations). These competencies were combined with our expertise within CSRD and sustainability reporting in general. With our methodological skills and professional understanding of sustainability, we played a crucial role in assessing the most appropriate methods for making these measurements.

This part of the assignment concerned the preparation of study designs and the actual measurement of the companies' impact of the extension of Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation.
