environmental measures for rapid development

Contaminated sites Solutions

‘Dockan’ is in the Western Harbour in Malmö and covers several blocks previously occupied by an oil terminal and shipyard. The area was developed by reclaiming land from the sea throughout the 20th century. Both the earlier businesses and the reclaimed land masses have led to contamination of soil and water with various heavy metals, oil and cyanide. Now that the area is to be developed, it needs to be surveyed and cleaned up.

COWI is involved in all environmental measures related to this unusually rapid development. This involves a range of services such as comprehensive soil analyses, checks and consulting. COWI also assisted with strategy work relating to the development and handled contacts with the authorities concerned.
