Regional development and sustainable travel for Sweden’s biggest commuter route

Railways Solutions
The Swedish Transport Administration is planning a new high-speed rail line, designed for speeds of 320 km/h, between Gothenburg and Stockholm.

The overall requirement for a journey time of two hours between Gothenburg and Stockholm means faster travel between the metropolitan regions.
A new high-speed railway will also relieve some of the load on the heavily used western main line (Västra stambanan). The new high-speed railway will bring the two biggest cities in Västra Götaland region - Gothenburg and Borås - closer together and improve communications within western Sweden. The high-speed line will also improve connections to Landvetter Airport. Better, more reliable and faster communications create the conditions for regional development and sustainable travel.
